history
The Domaine Courtois is a Jaume family-owned estate going back several generations. Pascal and Richard Jaume have now taken over from their father and are pursuing the tradition of quality that their father Claude started. The vineyards are located in an outstanding terroir of the Rhone Valley, the Vinsobres that combines the advantages of both the southern and the northern Rhone Valley.
Vineyard
Terror “Le Coteau”: clay-limestone soil, clayey marls in the basement, South / South-East exposure, pebbles on the surface, rapid heating of the soil, optimal maturation of grapes.
Winemaking
This Vinsobres is established on a selection of plots with early leaf stripping and green harvesting to obtain the quintessence of the fruit. Manual harvesting with sorting on the plot. Total destemming with partial crushing. 25 days vatting under temperature control.
Tasting notes
A nose of kirched cherries, leather and toast precedes a palate full of candied red fruits with spicy aromas supported by silky tannins.
Food pairing
The Reference Rouge goes perfectly with the leg of lamb with spices, grilled meats and cheeses.
Aging potential
10 years.
